Dr. Phil Gehrman is a licensed clinial psychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychaitry at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his undergraduate training at Penn and his doctoral work at the University of California, San Diego. He has over 15 years of experience in sleep research and clinical practice.
Dr. Gehrman's research is focused on the intersection of sleep and mental health. He is trying to determine the ways in which poor sleep negative impacts brain function, and how improving sleep and enhance mental health and wellness. He has received research funding from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and several foundations and industry partners.
Dr. Jennifer Goldschmied is a licensed clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. She received her doctorate in Clinical Science from the University of Michigan, and has practiced behavioral sleep medicine since 2009, treating patients with sleep disorders and comorbid psychiatric illness.
Dr. Goldschmied's program of research aims to identify the mechanisms by which sleep modulates mood and to determine the functional importance of sleep slow-wave activity in both mood and cognition. She has been funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health, and has received several awards for her ongoing research.
